The Carlyle Unveils Redesigned Tower Premier Rooms

Oct. 02, 2009

Experience Staying at a Superbly Attended Upper East Side Home

NEW YORK - A timeless classic, The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel, celebrated for its legendary New York glamour, has just completed a sumptuous redesign of the Tower Premier Rooms. Designed by the well-known interior designer Alexandra Champalimaud, the new guestrooms utilize elements exuding a modern polish while preserving the soul of the hotel's storied past with fine antiques, exquisite wool carpets and luxurious fabrics that have always been the repertoire of The Carlyle's classic art deco style.

An elegant combination of the hotel's sophisticated past and its modern-day luxury, these exquisite tower guestrooms feature uninterrupted vistas of the stunning Manhattan skyline, Central Park and northern bridges. Individually designed to take advantage of the breathtaking Manhattan views, the guestrooms showcase oversized gilt mirrors that accentuate the panoramas and provide a glimpse of the dazzling city.

Luxurious and sensuous, the one-bedroom Tower Premier Rooms are elegantly appointed with The Carlyle's collection of fine antiques, many updated in bold black lacquer. Classic tub chairs are upholstered in plush fabrics with down filled cushions, while tailored silk drapes with brightly colored borders and delicate trims soften the windows and modestly reflect the light. The hotel's signature English wilton carpets are rendered in bold geometric patterns providing a counterpoint to the vivid organic feel of the English wallpaper - it too, a modern take on the hotel's classic style. Each room has also been enhanced with extensive new lighting that can illuminate the room to help enhance the guest's experience - from providing ample work lighting to exuding a soft glow for the enjoyment of a romantic view of the sun setting over Central Park.

The experience of staying in a superbly attended Upper East Side home is enhanced throughout the guest rooms with touches that allow guests to live a sophisticated life akin to the residents. Of particular note, is a unique collection of artwork specially commissioned for the tower guestrooms from artist Amy Kaufman. Accenting the décor of the rooms are bold "knot" art etchings along with geometric carpets and organic florals featured on the walls intended to reference Central Park's classic English garden design. Formal geometric parterres yield to natural landscapes and twisted brambles, glimpses which can be seen throughout each individually designed tower room. In concert with one another, these various elements tie together to achieve what can be considered a tranquil sense of refinement.

"The tower rooms were designed so that guests will be immersed in the vibrant energy, elegance and cosmopolitan character of Manhattan," said Erich Steinbock, Managing Director of The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel. "It is a dynamic experience for guests who stay in these rooms to be able to take pleasure in the spectacular New York skyline, pop downstairs for a drink at the legendary Bemelmans Bar or step outside onto Madison Avenue and be surrounded by some of the world's most extraordinary galleries, designer fashion boutiques and world famous art museums."

The Tower Premier Rooms can be rented for $1,275 per night, not including tax and gratuity. For reservations, please call 888.ROSEWOOD or visit rosewoodhotels.com.
